Materials

Cabinets are available in Maple, Dark Maple, Oak, Cherry and Paint Grade Birch/MDF.

Wood Finish

Parts to be finished are first prepared by machine and hand sanding, then sprayed on an advanced finishing system with proprietary waterborne products, cured in a high speed ultra-violet oven and microwave system, sanded more, then top-coated for a soft shine with a product designed to minimize the darkening effects of sunlight on the finish. The final product is a smooth furniture quality finish that is durable and consistent in color. There are four colors from which to choose, plus optional glazes:

• Honey Gold (optional Brown or Ebony Hi-lite glaze)
• Andora Sunset (optional Ebony Hi-lite glaze)
• Sequoia Trail (optional Ebony Hi-lite glaze)
• Caffe’ Mocha (optional Ebony Hi-lite glaze)

Cabinet Construction

Cabinet sides, tops and bottoms are made with ½’” engineered wood and are secured to the frame and back with dado joints and fasteners. Cabinet backs are of 1/8” thick hardboard. Finished ends are matching wood print paper on ¼” hardboard skins (upgrades to wood veneer skins is optional or at KMC discretion). Cabinets are built in 3 inch increments with uppers ranging from 12”, 15”, 18”, 24”, 30”, 36”, and 42” high and no more than 48” wide. Bases are no more than 48” wide. There are no more than 2 arrangements per cabinet. Drop tray hardware is available. Cabinets are built with 90 degree angles and any special angle cabinets are cut in the field. Corner blocks are attached to maintain cabinet squareness and facilitate countertop installation.

Face Frames

All face frames are made of solid hardwood with 1-1/2” stiles, 2” rails and 3” mid-stiles. Face frames are pocket bored, screwed and glued, then sanded to a uniform ¾” thickness.

Doors

Five-piece engineered raised panel and flat panel doors have 2” styles and rails and 4 outer door edge selections (#18, #29, #30 and #31). Frames are made of ¾’ solid wood, with mortise and tenon joint construction. Floating center panels and the contemporary door are constructed of veneer wood overlaying a particle board substrate. All doors have foam bumper pads and Luan door backs. Five styles are available.

• 10- recessed panel-in-frame door with ¾ “ frame and ¼” wood veneer fiberboard flat panel
• 15- similar to above w/ unique interior rail profile and options for accepting glass/mullions
• 20V- ¾ “ raised panel door with floating wood veneer raised panel
• 25V- similar to above w/ unique interior rail profile and options for accepting glass/mullions
• 30- contemporary wood veneer slab door

Drawer Boxes

All drawers are constructed with ½” particle board with suomi birch paper (SBP) applied on sides, fronts and backs with top edges and interior surfaces to match the cabinet interior. 1/8” hardboard bottom is anchored in dadoes, then pinned for a secure fit. Drawer openings are 5” tall and drawer heads are 6” high. Drawer heads consist of ¾” solid lumber with the #18, #29, #30, or #31 edge.

Cabinet Interiors

Consist of water-resistant and chemical-resistant suomi birch print (SBP) paper, permanently applied to the interior surfaces of the cabinet box, drawer box and shelving.

Toe Kick

¼” wood veneered fiberboard.

Shelves

5/8” thick particle board with suomi birch print paper applied on both sides to match the interior of the cabinet. Front edge is edged with a matching edge band. Wall cabinets up to 39” wide have adjustable shelves supported by clear plastic shelf clips, and shipped in place. Base cabinets have a 5/8” thick half shelf.

Hinges

European style fully concealed, self-closing hinges are standard on all door styles, with 110 degree openings, 6 way adjustments, and ½”overlay.

Drawer Guides

Epoxy coated steel side mount guides with self-adjusting features and plug-in brackets are standard and are rated for 75 pounds.

Moldings

Moldings are wood veneer wrapped. “Fill” molding will be added in 3” increments only.

KCMA certified. Environmental Stewardship Program (ESP) certified.
